Counseling
Welcome to the Greathouse Counseling Page
According to the American School Counselor Association, school counselors are certified/licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. School counselors work to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all.
At Greathouse, your school counselors provide individual student academic planning and goal-setting, school counseling classroom lessons based on the MISD Core Character Traits, organize small groups focused on specific skills, conduct short-term counseling for students, make referrals for long-term support, collaborate with families/teachers/ administrators/community organizations for student success, and advocate for students in a variety of ways to contribute to their personal and academic success.

Services:
Classroom Education – Every month we will be doing various psychoeducational lessons in each classroom. We will be covering relevant topics such as character education, mindfulness, our brains, and college and career readiness. These lessons are specifically designed and tailored for each grade level to help ensure the success of all students in and out of the classroom.
Group Counseling- We will conduct small group counseling throughout the entire school year. These groups are made up of multiple students that are dealing with similar issues. The sessions are created to help target any hardship a student may go through, such as: anger management, anxiety, divorce, grief, making and keeping friends, self-esteem, and social skills. These sessions help students gain confidence and will ultimately help them perform better in school.
Individual Counseling- We will also work with individual students in any capacity as it is needed. We accept requests from students, teachers, parents and principals for
individual counseling. If a child or parent would like routine counseling visits, a parent consent form must be completed.
Thank you for sharing your children with us. We look forward to getting to know and working with them!
